Vidya Vistar is a novel initiative started by the University of Delhi. The aim of the scheme is to partner with colleges and Higher Educational Institutes located in remote areas of the country, identify, and help and support them in various ways so that the institutes can do better in various spheres and get the kind of exposure the Colleges of the University of Delhi get. The scheme proposes supporting the colleges by sharing the online resources, help in the capacity building of the faculty at the partner colleges, share pedagogical and teaching tools and train the faculty to use the tools for effective teaching. The scheme also seeks to encourage student interaction and faculty interaction and build a partnership that can help both the partner institutes to work towards the progress of the student community and country in the future.

Hansraj College, University of Delhi has partnered with three colleges from three different parts of the Country: Drass, Kargil (UT Ladakh), Chamba and Yachuli, Arunachal Pradesh. Hansraj College selected these colleges due to their remoteness.

After a few initial rounds of talks to get them on board and some brainstorming with the heads of the respective colleges, Hansraj College reached a mutual agreement to come into a collaboration. Meetings were held by the Vidya Vistar Scheme members with the probable partner colleges to deliberate on the proposal and the requirements of the institutes and future course of action.
