Recently, in October 2022, Dr. Sahil Mehta was appointed to Hansraj College, University of Delhi, making him the Youngest Assistant professor (Botany) in his alma mater as well as entire University of Delhi. Before the appointment, he had served as a lecturer in the Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR-Ghaziabad, as well as the School of Agricultural Sciences, K.R. Mangalam University, Sohna, Gurugram. His educational qualifications include a Ph.D. (Life Sciences) from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Jawaharlal Nehru University, and an M.Sc. (Botany) from the very reputed Department of Botany, University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. In addition, he is a lifetime member of the Indian Phytopathological Society (IPS) and the Delhi University Botanical Society (DUBS).

His primary research interests include (i) the development of transgenics and their biotechnological applications in cutting-edge areas, (ii) the effect of herbicides on plant microbiome, (iii) fungicidal application of agrochemicals, and (iv) the application of nanotechnology in plant protection and alleviating non-biological stresses. To date, Dr. Mehta (h-index 20) has published more than 135+ research, review articles, book chapters, and many awards with 1700+ citations. Recently, he is editing a Taylor and Francis book “Applications of Nanoscaled Platforms in Gene Delivery,” along with many phytonanotechnology stalwarts.
