I, Prof. Dr. Anand Mittal am a Professor in Department of Economics of Hansraj College, University of Delhi. I graduated in Economics (Hons) (1st Division) from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and did Masters in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. Thereafter, I started my teaching carrier by joining St. Stephen’s college, Dept. of Economics in 1985 as lecturer in permanent capacity. Later I was selected in Indian Civil Services exams 1987 and allotted to Indian Defence Accounts Services (IDAS) (Min. of Defence, Govt. of India). I was privileged to have training at Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy, Mussorie, military attachment at J&K sector border areas, Bharat Darshan and training at various ministries of Government of India (including Defence and Finance), Parliamentary attachment and National Institute of Management & Accounts (NIMA), Controller Defence Accounts offices in India. I served the Government of India as an IDAS officer at Controller of Defence Accounts (CDA), (CC) and at other key posts in India. With administrative work I kept my academic interest alive and organized various seminars in Economics at Controller of Defence Accounts office, (CC). A letter of appreciation was also conferred by Sh. SA Rahman, IDAS, Director, NIMA & Controller of Defence Accounts, (CC), Min. of Defence, Govt. of India for exemplary services offered by me as an IDAS officer and playing a leading academic role in conducting seminars there too.

Teaching has always been my first love and I reverted back to teaching profession by joining Shri Ram College of Commerce to restart teaching and with a journey through SGTB Khalsa College I settled at Hansraj College, Dept. of Economics. I have taught Money and Financial Markets paper since 1985 from St. Stephen’s college and continued teaching and contributing towards the same subject ahead including revision of syllabus under CBCS system. My Ph.D. Topic was ‘India’s Economic Reforms Programme (1991-1998) – A Critical Analysis with special reference to Capital Markets’. I was awarded PhD. Degree in 2001 and my thesis was published with a Foreword by an eminent economist, Sh. Sompal Ji , Member 12th Finance Commission & Member Rajya Sabha.

I have written numerous books in Economics for the undergraduate students since 2001 and updated as per the revised syllabus of CBCS semester system at University of Delhi. I have more than 30 research articles published in journals of repute. I have also been a key member of committee to form Money and Financial Markets Curriculum/ Syllabus updation. Over the years continuously since 2001, I have also been a paper setter, head examiner, convener for various papers in Economics in BA. Hons & BA Prog courses. Further, I have evaluated Ph.D theses, been an external examiner and conducted viva and provided suggestions and guidance for the award of PhD. Degree at Amity University.

Besides devoted and committed classroom teaching and with my prior administrative experience as IDAS officer, I served as a member of Governing Body (Teacher’s Representative), Hansraj College (2004-05) and also served college as Central Public Information Officer from 2015 to 2020. I have been convener of the Resource Generation Committee of the college and an active member of NAAC steering Committee and IQAC. I participated actively as a core member for the NAAC Accreditation of Hansraj College in August 2017 and the college secured A+ grade award. I have been an avid Member/ Organizer of Annual Day/ Prize Distribution/ Foundation Day/ Annual College Fests/ Annual DUSU and Student Union Elections of college. I have further contributed as a member of College Grievance Committee, Internal Complaints Committee, Finance Committee and member of advisory board of Mahatama Hansraj Faculty Development Centre. I as a member of IQAC have organized numerous Seminars/ FDP’s Workshops and conferences contributing to the overall health and corporate life of the college. As an advisor to Economics Society of the college I have organized seminars and also invited various notable dignitaries including the Head of Departments, Chairman & MD of Public Sector Banks/ Financial Institutions and Delegates from Ministries.

Apart from college, I have been regularly offering my consultancy to the corporate world. Further I have been a member of Governing Body of a reputed Private School in Punjabi Bagh (W) Delhi. I have been appointed as expert in Economics in selection committee of various DAV run institutes and other educational institutions. I have also been on the panel of experts of UPSC for conducting interviews for various posts. I have attended and participated in various conferences and seminars and have also been invited by various educational/ other institutes for special lectures in the field of Economics.

Hansraj College and Dept. of Economics, Delhi School of Economics and my students are of prime importance for me and I stand fully committed for them. In my next few years I plan to enhance by research and guidance for students. As a senior faculty member I have taken key interest and been committed to academic, administrative and overall corporate life of the college. I have given my best to the students for their development and been a mentor to them. I have been appreciated on several grounds by certification for my contribution by Padamshri Dr. Punam Suri ji, President, DAV Managing Trust ; Principal, Hansraj College; Hansraj College Alumina. I have been conferred with the IRSD – International Distinguished Educator Award 2019 and also with the prestigious 33rd Radhakrishnan Memorial National Teacher Award for exemplary services in the field of education.

(Chartered Accountants), Delhi which provides accountancy and allied services in financial markets to its clients.  Have provided consultancy services on project evaluation and valuation of financial market instruments to the firm on honorary basis for a number of years now.
