Webinar on COVID-19 Awareness

NSS Hansraj, in view of the present perplexing times, organized a webinar on “COVID-19 Awareness” on 20th May, 2021. The webinar was conducted to spread awareness regarding COVID-19 among the students along with highlighting some facts and myths surrounding vaccination. Discussion related to tackling present scenario covering do’s and don’ts’ when tested COVID positive, preventive measures to be taken and remedies to boost immunity were also delivered through the platform by our guest speaker, Dr. Yuvraj Jadeja, an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The session followed with some queries raised by our enthusiastic volunteers and ended with a vote of thanks by our Programme Officer, Dr. Monika Koul. All in all, the event turned out to be success by achieving its goal of providing cognizance on the same..



Let's Be Aware
(8th May, 2021)

On World Thalassemia day, we at NSS Hansraj in collaboration with BloodConnect, organised an awareness session "Let's Be Aware" to discuss about Thalassemia and how blood donation plays a key role in fighting against it. The session was conducted by the esteemed speaker, Ms. Pooja Misty. The attendees were made aware about the disease, its types, symptoms, treatment and cure. Various related facts and statistics were also presented to emphasize the severity of the disease. The speaker also encouraged the participants to donate blood in order to tackle this disease and to go for a regular health checkup, which is must for its diagnosis. Finally, the session came to end with a vote of thanks to the speaker and the audience. It was an enlightening session where people acquired knowledge about this lethal disease and were motivated to donate blood more often,



Webinar on Sexuality and LGBTQ+
(7th April, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organized a session on the topic "Sexuality and LGBTQ+" on 7th April,2021. On this World Health day, keeping in mind the theme "Building A Fairer, Healthier World", this workshop was organised to propagate sexual health knowledge and address gender inequality and discrimination. The workshop was organised in collaboration with Pratisandhi Foundation. It was a marvelous session with Ms. Narita and Mr. Abhinav Mehra who sensitised the volunteers on various issues such as LGBTQ, sex vs gender, sexual orientation and challenging stigma and biases. It was indeed an insightful session with an audience of 150 people and was successful in achieving its due objective to educate the audience about all the issues related to LGBTQ+ community.



Utsav 2021
(1st April, 2021)

The grand annual fest, UTSAV '21 of NSS Hansraj was held on April 1, 2021. Conducted in an online mode, it nonetheless garnered humongous participation from zealous partakers. Having brought smiles and proved as a fulfilling break from the monotony of everyday, the event turned out to be a successful endeavour. A series of exhilarating playful activities and games such as Golmaal Tambola, Retro-themed Quiz, Diary Cover Calligraphy Competition were organized along with a thrilling treasure hunt. The winners of these games were awarded certificates of appreciation, together with exciting gift hampers and cash prizes. The mesmerizing songs, beautiful dance performances, alongside the delivery of motivational speeches by two eminent guests- Deepak Bajaj Sir and Abha Maryada Banerjee Ma'am, made the cultural evening altogether a memorable event. The event ended on a successful note after Dr. Monika Koul Ma’am, the Programme Officer of NSS Hansraj, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to everyone. Also, the exuberant audience expressed its adoration through lovely comments on the virtual platform.



Session on Vidya Vistar Scheme
(30th March, 2021)

On 30th March 2021, NSS Hansraj conducted an engaging session as a part of Delhi University’s Vidya Vistar Scheme. Vidya Vistar Scheme was launched to collaborate with other universities so as to enhance their academic facilities and also to set up libraries in their campuses. By academic cooperation and collaboration, more such facilities will be built in partnership with these universities. In the recent session, members of NSS Hansraj explained the objectives and functioning of NSS to passionate students and faculty members of three different colleges from various states in India who wanted to set up a unit of NSS in their respective colleges. Our team shared first-hand experience and guided them through the entire process. We helped them to understand how to initiate and do the social service work, thus helping a lot many underprivileged people consequently. We are delighted to contribute in this noble initiative which is a step forward in the legacy of NSS.



Donation Drive in Majnu ka Tila
(8th March, 2021)

On Women's Day, we at NSS Hansraj conducted a donation drive for the women beneficiaries of the Social Entrepreneurship wing at Majnu Ka Tila. Bedsheets and sanitary napkins were donated along with some sweets to celebrate the day with everyone present there. Our volunteers also talked to them about the issues they faced during the pandemic and their overall experience of working with NSS hansraj. In conclusion, the event was successful in filling joy and happiness in the lives of our women beneficiaries. This event brought fun, entertainment and a sense of contentment among all.



Self Defence Workshop and #ChooseToChallenge Event
(8th March, 2021)

The world celebrates 8th of March as the International Women’s Day in order to commemorate womanhood and recognize the sacrifices made by her. We, at NSS Hansraj, devoted this beautiful day to organize a Self Defence Workshop and Sanitary Napkin Donation at Yamuna Khadar. The self defence workshop was conducted by the NCC Cadets of Hansraj College. We thank them for teaching the underprivileged women and children the basics of self defence. After the workshop, the sanitary napkins were distributed among the beneficiaries. Furthermore, we went a step ahead and organized a #ChooseToChallenge campaign on social media. This was conducted with the intention to question the orthodox customs and gender stereotype. The volunteers posted their photos with raised hands to express defiance to irrational practices. Their personal views were also written. We are happy to inform that the event was a great success and extend bountiful gratitude to all the volunteers who zealously took part in the event.



Group Discussion on Online Mode of Education vs Health
(25th February, 2021)

The pandemic has affected every aspect of human life. Whether its mental health, physical health or a combination of both, students especially have had a great share of problems. To shed light on this issue, we at NSS Hansraj organized a group discussion on 25th February 2021 on the topic 'Online Mode of Education vs Health'. Volunteers put forward their opinions and the audience was an integral part of the discussion as they asked questions and put forward their own opinions. In all, the discussion was a fruitful affair as everyone participated cordially and enthusiastically to arrive at meaningful conclusions. The event ended on a successful note and reiterated the sentiment that mental and physical health is crucial for proper development of an individual. We thank everyone for their sincere participation in this event.



English Literacy Session for YK Kids
(21st February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organized an online English Literacy Session on 21 February 2021, for the children of Yamuna Khadar slum. The session was aimed at enlightening the kids on the basics of the English Language. During the session, our volunteers exposed the inquisitive minds to the world of English Language by teaching them basic grammar, short sentences, etc. The kids were fascinated to know new words of English and were encouraged to use them in their daily lives. The interactive session came to a fulfilling end with a short question and answer round where the prompt responses given by students were quite appreciable. The event was indeed invigorating and we thank all the treasured volunteers for invoking the interests of children to dive deeper into the world of words and phrases.



Shawl and Cloth Donation Drive in YK
(14th February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organized a Shawl and Cloth Donation Drive on 14 February, 2021, in our adopted slum Yamuna Khadar, as a part of our Love Week initiative. Volunteers actively came together to distribute shawls and indulged in various fun activities with children and adults there. Activities like dancing, chit games, and a quiz based on traffic rules and road safety month were coordinated. Crayons and geometry boxes were gifted to the winners of these games. Adults in the area also participated in the activities and also shared their life experiences and stories. The drive was successful in its motive to make their living a little easier and to bring a light of optimism in their lives. We thank everyone who contributed in this selfless cause.



Webinar on Body Shaming
(13th February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organised a webinar on sixth day of Love Week, i.e., 13 February, 2021, to discuss the crucial topic of 'Body Shaming'. The webinar was an amusing interaction of 160+ participants with the guest speaker Ms. Saima Salman, who is the founder/CEO of Rational living Inc. Pte. Ltd. She not only enlightened the audience about body shaming and its types, but also highlighted the difference in promoting obesity and body positivity. She listened to body insecurities and experiences of body shaming of students along with sharing instances from her own life. In all, it was an insightful session and taught the audience how to overcome this problem of body shaming, also how to be confident and happy in your own skin.



Visit to Organisation For Helpless
(12th February, 2021)

On 12th February 2021, we at NSS Hansraj conducted a visit to an old age home "Organisation For Helpless". Our volunteers participated with great zeal in this initiative by engaging in fun activities with elderly people there. They played games like antakshri, ludo and also did craft work from origami sheets. It was a delight to watch aged people dance with great vigour and passion. Furthermore, we also donated bedsheets to the organisation. The event was a great success. It was a matter of enormous satisfaction to witness the mellow faces brimming with ecstasy and love. We thank everyone who contributed to this virtuous cause.



Music Therapy Session
(11th February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj, on the fourth day of the love week, i.e., 11th February 2021, organized a music therapy session so as to learn more about the numerous benefits of music. The online session saw avid participation of 160+ attendees and was addressed by the eminent clinical music therapist Ms. Aastha Luthra, who is currently working at St. Jude Child Care Centre, India. She enlightened the audience about how music can be used to address the emotional, physical, and social needs of an individual and has also been proven to be helpful against disorders like anxiety and depression. In the end, a Q/A session was held, in which, volunteers mentioned their favourite songs and discussed the various aspects involved in music therapy. In conclusion, it was a lively and energetic session that helped us spread awareness about this unique form of therapy and reiterated the need to educate more people about it.



Interactive Session with Volunteers
(10th Febrary, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organised an interactive session with all the first year volunteers on the 3rd day of ‘Love Week’, so as to spend some quality time together and strengthen the bonds. The lovely session marked its beginning with the introduction of the volunteers followed by exciting games. Volunteers enjoyed the music and sang together. It was a fun packed session. We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by the volunteers and their active participation. We hope such events help us to connect more with each other and work as a unified team.



Expressing Gratitude to Community Workers
(9th February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organised an event on the second day of Love Week, wherein, we asked the volunteers to prepare a card expressing their gratitude towards our community workers. Furthermore, we requested them to donate a mask or anything which had any means to put a smile on their faces. We were elated to receive a huge response from our volunteers which ultimately made this initiative successful. We express our gratitude towards everyone who participated in this event and strove to delight those who are an indispensable part of our lives.



Visit to Bal Seva Sanathan Orphanage
(8th February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj organised Love Week from 8th-14th February, 2021. It was a week dedicated to the aim of celebrating love and life. On 8 February, 2021, we conducted a visit to an orphanage Bal Seva Sanasthan. Our volunteers took an active part in various activities like distributing chocolates and registers to children, and also engaged in an interactive session with people there. Furthermore, we also organised a movie screening for the children, which was followed by various recreational and fun activities. The event was successful in its effort to spread the feeling of love and joy in difficult lives of such children. The smiles and radiance on their faces were one of its kind and worthy of our efforts. We thank everyone who contributed in this noble cause.



Webinar on Cancer Prevention
(6th February, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj connected with over 195 students online on 6th February 2021, for an informative session on "Awareness Regarding The Cancer Prevention". The speakers discussed both the topics comprehensively from 'Cancer Prevention' to 'Palliative Care'. Various queries of the audience regarding the same were addressed in the Q/A session which took place at the end of the webinar. Everyone took great interest in the session and learnt many new things about the preventive and care-giving approach in matters of cancer. It was indeed an informative and interactive session. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Monika Koul ma'am for her gracious presence as well as to all those who attended the webinar and led our initiative to a successful outcome.



Blanket Donation Drive
(1st February, 2021)

One of the best feelings in the world is giving. With just one act of kindness, you can inspire others to go out and plant seeds of happiness among numerous others. To fulfill the same motive, we at NSS Hansraj organised a Blanket donation drive on 1st February, 2021, near Safdarjung Hospital. Our volunteers actively came together to distribute blankets to the needy and poor. The drive was wholesome, uplifting the very sense of humanity among folks. We heartly thank everyone who contributed in the noble cause.



Republic Day Celebration
(25th January, 2021)

With great delight and joy in heart, we at NSS Hansraj in collaboration with NCC and ECA societies of our college, celebrated the 72nd Republic Day on 25th January, 2021 by organizing flag hoisting ceremony in Hansraj College. We were delighted by the words of wisdom, and the motivational speeches delivered by our Principal, Dr. Rama Sharma and our esteemed chief guests. The Indian Flag in Hansraj College made Delhi University the first public university in the country to get a monumental flagpole. It was a great moment for us to witness the flag hoisting and it surely gave us a sense of patriotism and responsibility towards our nation.



Webinar on Voting Rights
(24th January, 2021)

We at NSS Hansraj taking cognizance of his immortal words, organised a webinar on 24 January 2021, to acknowledge the importance of our fundamental right to vote, on the auspicious occasion of National Voters' Day. The webinar saw enthusiastic participation of over 150 students and was presided over by our guest speaker, Mr. Avanish Pandey who is the Lead Community Manager at Internity Foundation. He enlightened the audience on the importance of exercising our right to vote as it upholds what our freedom fighters envisioned for our nation. It was an invigorating session which made the audience aware about their rights and duties as voters and motivated one to become a dignified and responsible citizen of our country.



Webinar on Republic Day with YK Kids
(24th January, 2021)

The children of a nation are its most potent source of progress and cultural preservation. With the motive of educating and inspiring the young minds, we at NSS Hansraj organised an online session on 24 January, 2021, for the children of Yamuna Khadar. The session spiralled around the theme of Republic Day and its importance. During the session, our volunteers spent an interactive and fun time with the children, springing the feeling of patriotism in their youthful souls. They educated them about the Indian Constitution, which is the core of our country's existence. Volunteers also talked about the sacrifices made by our forefathers and encouraged the children to dream high for their homeland. All the children were energetic and prompt during the session which ended on a successful note. The event was revitalising and we thank all the participants for igniting the feeling of belongingness and pride among the future leaders.



Movie Screening: Shubhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero
(23rd January, 2021)

To celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Shubhas Chandra Bose, one of the great pioneers of Indian independence, we at NSS Hansraj conducted remote screening of the movie, ‘Shubhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’. Abandoning a life of ample wealth and comfort, Netaji dedicated his life to the nation. This inspirational story of Netaji’s life that is depicted in the movie, evoked a stirring sense of patriotism in the participants. It taught them the importance of good leadership skills and motivated them to resist injustice.Over 75 volunteers participated in the event. Our volunteers sent us pictures of them watching the movie with great interest. The event was thus successful in inculcating in everyone, the virtues that Netaji believed in.



Plantation Drive
(12th January, 2021)

On National Youth Day, as an attempt to fulfill the dreams of our great leader Swami Vivekananda, we at NSS Hansraj organized a “Plantation Drive”, wherein, we asked the volunteers to use plastic containers available at their homes to carefully create decorative pots and then sow seeds of any flower or vegetable in it. Furthermore, our volunteers even created 'Hanging Pots', and sent us beautiful pictures of these lovely pots and plants. We received a huge response which ultimately made our campaign, a successful outcome, and fulfilled the purpose of spreading awareness about the responsibilities and duties of today’s youth, to the environment.



Let's Exercise, Replenish and Revive
(12th January, 2021)

National Youth Day is celebrated in India on 12th January every year. This day marks the birth of great Indian philosopher, Swami Vivekananda. The main objective behind the celebration of this day is to secure a better future for the country by motivating the youth and spreading the ideas of Swami Vivekananda. In this regard, we at NSS Hansraj organized an event, "Let's Exercise, Replenish and Revive" to spread awareness among people about the benefits of regular exercise. \ We asked the volunteers to take part in the initiative by sharing their pictures/videos doing exercises such as yoga, asanas, skipping, aerobics etc. Since our volunteers have always believed in the idea, 'Be the change that you want to see', they participated in large numbers in this event and helped it end on a successful note.



Food Donation Drive
(3rd January, 2021)

On the last day of our three day event, Welcoming 2021 with Positivity, i.e. on 3rd January, 2021. we organised a Food Donation Drive where we asked the volunteers to donate food to needy people and stray animals and click pictures while doing so, so as to escalate the event for the greater good of people. The drive saw a remarkable response where volunteers donated rice, pulses, packaged goods and other food items. We also received pictures of stray animals being fed bread, biscuits, milk, etc. The drive was indeed an accomplishment. We extend our gratitude to everyone who took part in this upright event and brought back the lost smiles on the faces of the needy.



NSS Talent Day
(2nd January, 2021)

On the second day of our three day event, Welcoming 2021 with Positivity, i.e. on 2nd January, 2021, we conducted the NSS Talent Day. "Love what you do and do what you love." Keeping this in mind, we encouraged the volunteers to express themselves through whatever they love to do. We were elated to receive an overwhelming response. Many volunteers showcased their talents through fascinating dance and music videos, while others displayed their unique ideas through posters, slogans and poetries. The event thus brimmed with immense exuberance and zest. We thank everyone for their zealous participation.



Cloth Donation Drive
(1st January, 2021)

On 1st January, 2021, NSS Hansraj organized a Clothes Donation Drive for the poor as well as the stray animals, under the three day event, Welcoming 2021 with Positivity. Under this initiative, we encouraged and asked our volunteers to donate sweaters, shirts, blankets or even the smallest items like mufflers or gloves, as little things can also make a big difference. We asked volunteers to serve any area of their choice and click a picture while donating clothes. We were delighted to receive an overwhelming response from our volunteers. We wholeheartedly thank everyone who took part in this initiative and made it a huge success.



Preamble Reading on Constitution Day
(26th November, 2020)

Every year, on 26 November, Constitution Day is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the constitution. This day, a milestone in the formation of The Republic of India, celebrates the rights and freedom of every citizen of the country. To celebrate this day, NSS Hansraj organized an event which was attended by over 80+ volunteers. In this event reading of the Preamble took place. Also, two short videos were screened to make volunteers aware of the Fundamental duties. Volunteers pledged to protect sovereignty and integrity of the nation along with the rights of fellow citizens and thus the event was concluded on a positive note.



Webinar on Organ Donation
(19th November, 2020)

The demand for organ transplantation has rapidly increased all over the world due to the increased incidences of vital organ failure. However, the unavailability of adequate organs for transplantation to meet the existing demand has resulted in major organ shortage crises. In order to address this problem and spread awareness about organ donation, a webinar was conducted by NSS Hansraj on 19 November, 2020, in which, Dr. Geetika Vashisth from ORGAN India addressed the topic “Organ Donation”. In the session, various topics related to organ donation and consequences of organ shortage were discussed and various topics like types of organ donations, process of organ donation, laws governing organ donation in India were also covered. Various doubts related to the topic were also cleared in the Q&A session. It was a highly informative session in which students took great interest and realised the importance of organ don



Online Diwali Mela 2020
(31st October, 2020)

Observing the norms of social distancing this time, we at NSS Hansraj organized the first ever online Diwali Mela on 31st October 2020 which observed the participation of many enthusiastic participants. Fun and interactive games like Housie and Treasure Hunt were played by people from all across the country and the winners of the game were given awards in the form of cash prizes. The cultural evening started with the blessings of our respected Principal Dr. Rama ma’am, who congratulated NSS team for its fruitful efforts. The audience enjoyed many outgoing performances like music and dance, with others such as magic tricks and a comedy session which made everyone clench their stomach. Skit by Shunya opened everyone’s eyes about the ramifications of blindly trusting the media, and the touching poems on societal themes gave everyone goosebumps. All the funds collected through this event will be used for the betterment of our adopted slum Yamuna khadar and our beloved Padhaku kids.



Webinar on Sustainable Development
(19th October, 2020)

To make people more aware about the long term health of ecosystem and social welfare, NSS Hansraj on 19th October, 2020, organised a webinar on 'Sustainable Development Goals and their importance' where the host was a well known environmental activist Miss Livia Van Heerde. She enlightened the audience on issues concerned with effective use of environmental resources and how to conserve ecological diversity. An interactive Q/A round was also held where several questions were answered regarding one's role in environmental protection and how can sustainable development goals be achieved within a shorter time span. It was a great and insightful session which surely helped everyone to learn necessary skills to address environmental issues in future and actions to keep the environment safe an



Session On Cleanliness
(18th October, 2020)

On 18th October 2020, the RD wing of NSS Hansraj conducted an online session on cleanliness for Yamuna Khadar to teach them some basic hygiene practices and some preventive measures that they can practice especially during the pandemic. We hope that our efforts bring substantial change in their lives and help them gain knowledge and education in the best possible way.



Webinar On Waste Management
(17th October, 2020)

Solid wastes are the discarded leftovers of our advanced consumer society. This growing mountain of garbage and trash represents not only an attitude of indifference towards our valuable natural resources, but also a serious economic and public health problem. In this regard NSS Hansraj conducted a webinar on "How Waste Management is related to Social Entrepreneurship".It started with our esteemed speaker Ms. Nupur, founder of Evolve Foundation sharing her experience on various projects initiated by her. She shared the importance of waste management and the major problems related to it.Then, a question answer session began where volunteers actively asked her various questions related to problems regarding waste management.The session was invigorating and was brimming with enthusiasm of our speaker as well as our audience who took great interest in the subject. It ended on a successful note with our volunteers gaining extensive knowledge about the ways to make a difference in our society.



Celebration with Padhaku Kids
(10th October, 2020)

We wrapped up the Joy of Giving week on a happy note by organising a fun session for the Padhaku and Yamuna Khadar kids on its last day. The session included exciting and engaging activities for the kids. In the webinar, volunteers organized several fun games like guess the movie name, guess the song, find the differences and many more. It was a day filled with memories to cherish. At the end of the webinar, kids departed with a clear smile on their faces.



Volunteers Interactive Session
(9th October, 2020)

NSS Hansraj believes that spreading happiness is one of the noblest things that we as humans can do. So, to support this belief, we organized a "Volunteers' Interactive Session" on the 5th day of 'Joy of Giving Week' i.e. 9th October 2020. In the beginning, volunteers introduced themselves after which, the fun activities began. Volunteers were then divided into groups and there was a short story telling activity which illuminated the room with the spirit of happiness. Each group also played a puzzle game, followed by few games based on movie names and dialogues. We are thankful to all the volunteers for their active participation and making this event an enormous success.



Art Therapy Session
(8th October, 2020)

On Day 4 of Joy of Giving week, we at NSS Hansraj conducted a webinar on Art Therapy where well versed and experienced speakers interacted with over 100 students and shared their knowledge in the field of art and creativity. They explained that Art therapy integrates psychotherapeutic techniques with the creative process to improve mental health and well-being, which help people to explore self-expression and find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills.At last they also talked about, what people can do to remain stress free and happy all the time like walking outside, having a talk with nature, listening to music,writing and many more. Volunteers also learned how to make a cartoon character in just two minutes and how to engage their energy in something productive. The session came to an end with a note that: Everyone has talent-an art of their own, what we have to do is just believe in ourselves and be consistent.



Pledge to stop Covid-19
(8th October, 2020)

Covid-19 has been rapidly spreading around the world for the past few months. Our government is taking precautionary measures to prevent its spread but our individual efforts are equally important to fight the battle against this pandemic. Hence on 8th October 2020, we at NSS Hansraj pledged to follow all preventive measures in order to contain the spread of the lethal virus. The pledge was taken on Google Meet platform in both Hindi and English languages, where all the volunteers assembled together and took the pledge. They took an oath to maintain two-yard distance, wear masks, and wash hands frequently. Reciting the pledge stirred up awareness and sense of responsibility among the volunteers, thereby, inculcating the will to be more conscious of their actions which will ultimately lessen the chances of exposure to coronavirus.



BloodConnect Webinar
(7th October, 2020)

Every year thousands of people die due to shortage of blood. In order to address this problem and spread awareness about blood donation, a webinar was conducted on 7 October 2020 as Day 3 of our Joy of Giving week by Mr. Deepak Goel from BloodConnect on “Blood shortage in India during Covid-19” which was attended by over 100 students and our Programme Officer Dr. Monika Koul. In the session, various topics related to blood donation and blood shortage were discussed and the attendees were briefed about BloodConnect, a youth run initiative in the field of voluntary blood donation.A quiz was also organised at the end to test our knowledge gained in the session. It was a highly productive session in which students took great interest and many students pledged to donate their blood.



A Day with Loved Ones
(6th October, 2020)

We at NSS Hansraj soaking in the spirit of sharing is caring, celebrated ‘Joy of Giving Week’ from 5th October to 10th October 2020 with our volunteers, their families and underprivileged children and people. In this regard, we organised multiple online events, the second event being, "A day with the loved ones" which gave us the golden opportunity to show our love to our grandparents and reconnect with some old friends. The volunteers spent some quality time with their grandparents and old friends and shared their memorable moments with us. Our initiative was an attempt to strengthen the bond between the individuals and their loved ones which was successfully accomplished. They shared numerous pictures while cooking, playing, going on a walk and a lot of other experiences with us. The success of the event was evident through the joyful smiles of all the participants in the lovely pictures they shared. We are thankful to everyone who actively participated in this activity.



Visit to Kamla Nagar and Yamuna Khadar
(5th October, 2020)

On the first day of the Joy of Giving week, i.e., 5th October 2020, we at NSS Hansraj distributed packets of biscuits to the underprivileged children of Kamla Nagar. Also, cooked meals were served to 250+ residents of Yamuna Khadar slum area. The smiles on their faces after receiving food, sparked elation and satisfaction in us which was incredible and unequalled.We hope our initiative inculcates the spirit of giving back to the community in people around us and motivate everyone to indulge in acts like these.



Best Out of Waste and Cleanliness Drive
(2nd October, 2020)

Mahatma Gandhi's beliefs served as stepping stones towards an independent India. One of the notions being, "Sanitation is more important than Independence" which helped shaping the nation we live in today, taught us the importance of a clean and healthy ambience. Abiding to Bapu's ideologies, we at NSS Hansraj organised a Cleanliness Drive to celebrate his birthday. We asked volunteers to clean any area of their surroundings, divide the waste into three categories and click a picture while doing so. We saw an active participation from our volunteers and recieved impressive reponses. Along with this, we organised a Best Out of Waste Competition. Through this competition, our aim was to recall Gandhi's teachings of cleanliness and promoting creativity among people to use their flair of turning the waste into something creative. Participants took part with great zeal and we saw some wonderful artistic pieces out of waste.



Webinar on Some Easy Lockdown Exercises and Their Importance
(27th September, 2020)

With the motive of encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle, we at NSS Hansraj organised a webinar for the kids of Padhaku wing on 27th of September on the topic, “Some Easy Lockdown Exercises and Their Importance”. In the webinar, volunteers gave an interactive presentation for the kids on how to acquire good health and fitness. Volunteers also talked about the Fit India Movement which was initiated by our honourable Prime Minister and educated the children about importance of fitness and some easy exercises to do at home. All the children were enthusiastic and prompt during the event which ended on a successful note.



NSS Day 2020

Social work draws heavily from the Gandhian values and his principles. One can totally rely upon them for self improvement. On the occasion of NSS Day, an event was conducted by NSS Centre, University of Delhi on the topic "Gandhian values and NSS" emphasizing on the principles and morals laid by Gandhiji.The event was gracefully addressed by Dr. Kamal Kumar Kar, Assistant Program Advisor, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Capt. Parminder Singh, Program Coordinator, NSS University of Delhi.We, the NSS Hansraj family, were delighted to be the part of such an inspiring and informative event. We would like to express our gratitude towards the nodal unit for their commendable hospitality.



National Nutrition Month 2020
(September 2020)

National Nutritional Month 2020 is one of the government led initiative, which promotes fitness and wellness among people which can be acquired through nutritious food. In this regard, we organised an online event in which volunteers were asked to share pictures of their regional food with its nutritional information. Also, a fun and interactive session was also organised about "Nutrition and Fitness" by a well known nutritionist, Ms. Aaina Singhal on September 23, 2020. Everyone took great interest in the session and learnt many new healthy eating habits, which would definitely help in improving one's health, mind and overall balance of the body.



Family Fit Nation Hit
(12-14 September, 2020)

We, at NSS Hansraj, strongly believe that it is essential for all of us to undertake activities that contribute to our fitness. In our endeavours to promote the Fit India Movement, we conducted an online fitness campaign from 12th September to 14th September with the idea of "Family Fit Nation Hit". We emphasised that fitness begins at home and in our campaign, volunteers participated along with their families to indulge in various activities like yoga, outdoor games, weightlifting, cardio exercises, skipping and many more.



Independence Day Celebrations
(15th August, 2020)

Like every year, we at NSS Hansraj celebrated the Independence Day of our motherland with fervour and enthusiasm. Also this year, along with commemorating the 74 years of freedom, we promoted our honourable Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. We also presented a video highlighting Indian freedom struggle, achievements of India post-Independence and importance of self-reliance in India. Our volunteers pledged to strive hard to make India proud and emerge as a superpower leading the entire world. With the Indian economy undergoing a tough time due to Covid-19, they pledged to make India self-reliant by using only domestically made products.



Live session on new EIA Draft
(29th July, 2020)

On 29th July, 2020, NSS Hansraj organised a live session on Google Meet, concerning the issue of the new EIA Draft. The session was addressed by the members of Youth for Climate India, namely, Srijani Dutta, Mansi Rathore, Aakansha Singh and Rachit Tiwari who delivered an informative presentation on the harmful effects of the new EIA Draft and other environmental issues such as current floods, laws and acts for environmental protection, etc. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation of a number of people who actively engaged in the Q&A round. It ended on a successful note, fulfilling its aim of creating awareness among today's youth regarding the prevailing environmental problems and methods to protect and conserve resources for the future generations



Online Emotional Hygiene Session
(17th July, 2020)

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to profound changes in social and occupational practices requiring most people to socially isolate. With the required social distancing practices, symptoms of anxiety and depression may naturally increase. In order to help people to deal with stress and anxiety, NSS Hansraj organised a live session on the topic "Emotional Hygiene during Pandemics" which was addressed by Ms. Charnita Arora, India's leading Mindfulness Expert, TedX Speaker, renowned therapist, best-seller author and founder of Perfect Life Spot. During the interactive session, Ms. Charnita addressed various queries of the audience related to stress problems and methods to cope with them. She discussed various strategies which if applied on daily basis will surely have great benefits on one's mental health. Audience engaged in interesting activities like water breathing and emotional mapping. She also emphasized on the importance of a healthy diet, good sleep and somatic awareness. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation and proved to be very beneficial considering the ongoing situation. It taught one how to build healthy coping skills and importance of incorporating mindful practices in daily routine.



Online Yoga Session
(21st June, 2020)

On Yoga day, NSS Hansraj held an online talk session by Ms. Divya Kakkar, a certified associate leadership and executive coach who addressed all the participants on the topic, 'Power of Meditation in Today's Life'. By the end of the session people learnt about the benefits of meditation and how it naturally cures depression and anxiety. Followed by the talk session, we also had an online Yoga session in which participants practiced Yoga as guided by the instructor, Mr. Rakesh Singh Rautela. Different asanas were performed by the participants which energised the body and strengthened the mind. The talk session was streamed live on facebook and were attended by large number of people. Both the events were marked by spirited participation of the volunteers and brimmed with immense happiness and enthusiasm.
