UTSAV AT YAMUNA KHADAR

The bright sun shone in unison with the high spirits that NSS Hansraj carried - all ready to radiate the lives of our brothers and sisters at Yamuna Khadar to celebrate Utsav 2019. The day began amidst excitement as volunteers reached Yamuna Khadar around 9 A.M. to light up the day. The volunteers lit up the area with beautiful decorations and hangings. An oral hygiene awareness session was conducted for the children at the commencement followed by fun activities for them. Besides putting up a fun big 'Columbus' ride, we began with the races for our kids. Quite vibrant with the energies that they hold, we saw amazing participation in tyre race and sprint race. The winners were appreciated with lovely prizes. Meanwhile, the tasty gulab jamun and chole bhature began attracting the inhabitants in large numbers, garnering praises and spreading smiles on everyone's faces. As the sun came overhead, we soon began with our next set of competitions for adults starting with a stitching contest which saw enthusiastic participations and pretty frocks. The best entries were awarded for their creativity. It was followed by an awareness seminar regarding menstrual health, which was attended by a number of female inhabitants of the slum. Keeping in mind the crucial importance of hygiene and sanitation, NSS Hansraj also organised cleanliness and personal hygiene contests, and the top three cleanest houses were acclaimed with prizes. The event concluded by a plant sapling donation drive, wherein we inspired people to increase green cover around their house. It was followed by the final discussion with the volunteers regarding their experience and the positivity that they encountered spreading smiles and happiness. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers for their dedicated efforts which helped us make this event a great success.

UTSAV AT HANSRAJ COLLEGE

The aura of music, the shimmer of decorations, the aroma of cuisines, the delight of games and the co-operation of beautiful hearts - that's to sum up the Annual Fest UTSAV '19 of NSS Hansraj. NSS Hansraj successfully celebrated Utsav 2019 on the 9th of March. It was a steaming event, highly awaited and straight from the hearts of hard-working volunteers. As one entered the celebrations, the first ones to welcome were the vibrant paper hangings suspended elegantly over the celebration area. There was something to cater to everyone's interests - exciting Bollywood games for the game lovers, delicious Chaap for the foodies, and exquisite artworks ranging from bookmarks, posters, purses to candles for the artlovers. Also, there was a photobooth stall in the shape of a truck which served to be a key attraction of the fest. The treasure hunt saw highly enthusiastic participations. The people grooved to music in the "Let's Nacho" game stall performing the hooksteps of popular songs. Meanwhile, others expressed their views about menstruation in the Padman challenge. The games were applauded by all for how well they amalgated the fun and engaging factor with awareness of social responsibility. Moreover, there were stalls of different DU colleges namely NSS Lakshmibai, Enactus Maitreyi, CDF Motilal Nehru College and a special stall by the NSS Hansraj Jugnu team. The feedback collected from the visitors was really motivating as they praised the work of the NSS team as they got to know about the initiatives of NSS Hansraj. Finally, the whole team of NSS Hansraj would like to extend its thanks to all the visitors for showing up for the event and turning this humble initiative into a grand and admirable success. Also, without the cooperation from the volunteers, it would not have been possible to manage this event in such an efficient and effective manner. Thank you all, we hope to see you at Utsav 2020!
