About NSS - Hans Raj College

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Hans Raj College works under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Our sole aim is to inculcate the spirit of service among college students to help individuals, groups and communities cope up with their problems. We are a group of self- motivated students who have decided to bring a change in the society and work towards spreading the message of peace, education, love and development. We try to inculcate in our peers a sense of responsibility towards the society, the Nation and most importantly, equip them with values for life. We believe that since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you’re able to give. We wish to make the world a better place to live for all, socially and environmentally.

The objectives of NSS, Hans Raj are:

  • To foster a culture of ‘Service before Self’
  • To promote education among the underprivileged children
  • To organise and sensitise rural communities on various social issues
  • To propagate the idea of a ‘Clean and Green’ surroundings
  • To spread the need to maintain personal hygiene and good health
  • To encourage students to come together and contribute their bit towards the society
  • To spread smiles

NSS is the largest society of the college with over 600 volunteers coming from various disciplines and walks of life. We work under five different wings that allow us to promote welfare and development in a plethora of fields, namely: PADHAKU (Education), Health, Rural Development, Social Entrepreneurship and Environment & Disaster Management.
